Aṣṭāṅgāsana Abstract Painting
48″ x 24″ abstract painting on panel installed in a black floating frame.
Aṣṭāṅgāsana was created with joint knives, rubber blades and construction tools. It is titled after the Eight-Limbed Pose, a grounding and preparatory posture commonly found in Sun Salutations. Aṣṭāṅgāsana strengthens the arms, chest, and back while cultivating flexibility in the spine and openness in the shoulders. Symbolically, the eight-point contact expresses humility and devotion, often interpreted as a bow to the earth. Within the flow of Sun Salutations, this posture teaches patience, gradual release, and steadiness in transitions.
This expressive abstract work is influenced by Hennick’s meditation and yoga practice.
