Supta Daṇḍāsana Abstract Painting

Supta Daṇḍāsana Abstract Painting

48″ x 30″ Large scale acrylic painting on gallery canvas.

Supta Daṇḍāsana is a large scale abstract painting created with joint knives and various construction tools. It is titled after the Reclined Staff Pose, a supine variation of the classical Daṇḍāsana (Staff Pose). This asana encourages awareness of alignment, symmetry, and balance in the body. Physically, it strengthens the legs, lengthens the spine, and promotes postural awareness. Subtly, Supta Daṇḍāsana cultivates steadiness and quiet focus, making it a useful preparatory or resting posture in practice. This large scale abstract expressionist work is influenced by Hennick’s meditation and yoga practice. It was created 2021.
