Denver artist Joan Fullerton, the official juror for the exhibition shares her thoughts:
It’s ironic that someone who doesn’t believe art should be competitive agreed to the daunting task of choosing artworks for an exhibition!
And yet, what a delight of the senses, stimulation of the intellect, and what an amazing experience, to see the 787 creative artworks submitted!
All entries were high quality and well-deserving of inclusion. It was impressive! How could these be culled down to just 90? Each dismissal was truly crushing.
I found myself drawn mainly to non-objective abstract work, so while all art is an abstraction, I limited my choices to less representational works.
I endeavored to compose an exhibition encompassing a broad range of media, techniques, and concepts. This meant I chose the artwork from various categories that resonated with me personally… art that evoked a feeling, a memory, a sensibility. That which had mystery, ambiguity, or perhaps that which surprised me.
Thank you for sharing your unique and valuable art!
Sincerely, Joan Fullerton
